Trojanettes finish second in Area meet

The Windthorst Trojanette track and field team continued to display their dominance on Thursday, April 11, this time at the Area Track Meet in Graham. Following a district meet that saw the Trojanettes send 12 individual athletes and all three relays to Area, those same athletes lived up to the occasion on Thursday, finishing second in team points with 76, while also sending 10 athletes, all three relays, and three Area Champions to the Regional track meet held in Springtown.

Archer City dedicates flagpole to former coach Pat Maxwell

Archer City ISD dedicated the flagpole at its baseball complex to its late title-winning baseball coach, Pat Maxwell, prior to the Wildcats game against Olney on Friday, April 12.

Maxwell coached at Archer City from 2002 to 2012 and claimed the school’s first baseball title with a 6-2 win over New Deal in the Class A title game in 2007. He would go on to coach Godley and Petrolia where he would pick up his 400th win as a coach.

Archer County HS UIL teams perform well

All three Archer County High School each had multiple students advancing to the Regional Academic meets following strong performances in the district meet earlier this month. For Archer City, sophomore Kori Keeter, freshman Jocelyn Tedrow, junior Estefani Zea, senior Louren Conner and juniors Brooke Smith, Isaac Dieguez and Ty Cantrell will advance to the regional meet at Grayson College in Denison on April 26-27.

Texa DPS trooper injured i n 277 wreck

One trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety was sent to the hospital following a wreck in nothern Archer County on the afternoon Wednesday, April 10. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Juan Gutierrez, a trooper was a travelling north on Business 277 in his marked patrol unit and stopped at the stop sign at US 82 intersection when a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, driven by a 24-year-old female of Wichita Falls, struck the back of the patrol unit.
